“Open minds lead with open hearts”-Amy Nolan #creativity #mentalhealth #choice #mindfulness #anxiety #depression #outlook

Posted on Sep 30, 2019

Here we are already, at the end of the month.  I hope you have found some great tools in building your creativity within your mental health this month through each weekly challenge. This quote to end of off the month is from yours truly.  If we want to open our minds, become mindful of our feelings, words and actions we need to connect to our hearts through recognizing what we value most.  My send off challenge as we end September is to change one negative thought you have into a positive one that relates to something you value in your heart. For example, if your friend cancels on your...

“Innovation means saying no to a thousand things”-Steve Jobs #creativity #mentalhealth #innovation #sayno #boundaries #selfcare #anxiety #mindfulness #reactive #choice

I think mid-month here with our creativity theme in mental health, this quote sums it all up for us.  How can we be creative in building the lives we want when a thousand other things are going on? The answer is, we can’t!  We all have the same 168 hours in a week, so we need to be creative in how we want to spend our time.  So if you don’t really want to see your mother in law this weekend because you need to relax after a 60hr work week, say “no” politely and take that time you need to recharge! In these days of constant bings and vibrations from smartphones, I...

“When you choose to enjoy the process, your happiness is no longer reliant upon an outcome”-Yehuda Berg #creativity #happiness #mentalhealth #mindfulness #goals #choice

Posted on Sep 16, 2019

Often we believe we do not have a choice in how we think of something, but you always have a choice and that is the beauty of the mind! Keeping with our theme of creativity, in those moments this week where you feel like you are doing something you do not like in order to get to an outcome (such as working out to lose 5lbs maybe), work on what you can do to make the process more enjoyable in your mind so you aren’t depending on the result. So if you are on the treadmill and you tell yourself “I hate this” over and over then you most likely will not want to do it again and...

“Turn your wounds into wisdom”-Oprah Winfrey @oprah #creativity #mentalhealth #mindset #change #positivity #creative #depression #anxiety #mindfulness

September’s Blogspiration theme will be creativity in mental health!  September is typically a transition time, particularly for families with children when the new school year/activities start and there can be a lot of disruption from the abrupt transition this time of year creates. When we think of “wounds” some of us may think of a traumatic experience, some may think of a physical limitation, but wounds can be seen as any setback, abrupt transition like the school year or another negative experience because, hey, we are being creative here! The mental health challenge...

“Your life is supposed to be a journey from one unique place to another; it’s not supposed to be a merry-go-round that brings you back to the same spot over and over again”-Rachel Hollis @msrachelhollis #journey #change

Posted on Aug 26, 2019

As we bring August to a close with our theme of “the journey,” I wanted to use the quote because I felt it was the perfect metaphor for how a lot of people feel in their lives.  Almost all people want to change something about themselves or their lives.  If we think of our lives as a merry-go-round, we know that eventually the ride will come to a stop to allow people who want to get off to do so and some stay on. Some people want to stay on and are content and that’s ok, but if you are someone who knows there is more out there for you, but every time the ride stops you...

“For every beauty there is an eye somewhere to see it. For every truth there is an ear somewhere to hear it. For every love there is a heart somewhere to receive it”-Ivan Panin #journey #alone #support #mentalhealth

This quote is so beautiful.  On our journeys we can sometimes feel alone, especially if we are starting something new like starting to workout for the first time in years or starting a new job, or a new business.  Whatever it is you may be starting in on a new journey, remind yourself of this quote. If you feel alone, I promise you that you are not! There is someone else out there who shares a similar view, interest or wants the same problem fixed. With social media and meet-up websites, it’s so easy to connect with others when you need them. The challenge this week will be simply to...

“We know what we are, but know not what we may be”-William Shakespeare #mentalhealth #journey #possibilities #expectations #shakespeare #anxiety #depression #future #beopen #acceptance #awareness

This quote is so hard for anxious people to accept.  They feel like they are in control of their future and believe if they do x,y,z it will get them to a specific locations.  Not saying here that can’t happen…however I find that most people’s journeys in life often take them to unexpected territory where different opportunities are presented that they never thought of.  Expectation can bring on a lot of pressure and anxiety, Shakespeare knew this so many years ago. The Blogspiration challenge this week is 1 of 2 challenges (or both if you are up to it!): Reflect 5 years...

“I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again”-F. Scott Fitzgerald

Posted on Aug 5, 2019

The theme for our August Blogspiration is “the journey.”  Sometimes life can feel like a freight train coming at us and we forget there is always the possibility of taking a deep breath and starting over. The quote for this week tells us to live our lives in a way of hope, in a way or moment that you can feel proud of yourself.  On those bad days, it’s easy to get trapped in pessimistic views, but we forget we can overcome those and give ourselves a chance to reboot right in that moment-not waiting for the next day! The challenge this week will be to notice when you are in...

“You can either live on purpose, according to a plan you’ve set. Or you can live by accident, responding to the demands of others.”-Michael Hyatt @MichaelHyatt #purpose #choice #mindset #mindset #priorities

Are you living for your purpose or do you find yourself constantly responding to the demands of others? The challenge in this last week of the month is to take time to reflect on these past weekly challenges and think about what doing them was like for you.  What did you learn about yourself?  About your interactions with others?  About “purpose” in general? If you are responding to others, where can you fit your goals in? I hope these Blogspiration posts have provided you insight to live with purpose.  Of course there are times where you do need to respond to others, but if all...

“Tension is a habit. Relaxing is a habit. And bad habits can be broken, good habits formed”-Dale Carnegie @DaleCarnegie #habits #mentalhealth #purpose #consistency #accountability

Everything we do has a purpose.  We run because we enjoy it or maybe we are trying to get healthier.  We work with the purpose to fulfill our dreams or make money.  We get tense because we are stressed.  We bite our nails when we get anxious. The challenge this week is to write down 1 habit you want to change or start.  Then work to keep whatever the new habit is consistent.  Perhaps day 1 you write down or tally when the habit you want to change comes up.  Maybe the next day you catch it and replace it with something else.  Example: If you want to stop biting you nails; when you are about...
